At the heart of Apple’s design legacy is Sir Jonathan Ive, a British architect, product, and industrial designer who served as the company’s Chief Designer from 1992 to 2019. Educated in Art and Design at Northumbria University, Ive honed his skills at Tangerine, an industrial design firm, before assuming a pivotal role at Apple.

Leica M

In 2013, Jonathan Ive, in collaboration with Australian Industrial Designer Marc Newson, embarked on the creation of a Leica Digital Rangefinder camera as part of a charitable auction initiative. This remarkable camera achieved an astounding sale price of $1.8 million. An evolution of the Leica M model, which had debuted in 2012 as the brand's digital camera, this updated version boasts an exceptionally sleek design. The design process involved a rigorous journey, with the designers meticulously evaluating nearly 550 prototypes before arriving at the final product.

The iPhone

Much like the iPod before it, the iPhone proved to be a groundbreaking innovation within the realm of mobile phones. Serving as the company's inaugural venture into the phone market, the iPhone completely transformed the traditional perception of a mobile device. Effectively, it reimagined the phone as an iPod with an expanded screen, a revolutionary touch screen interface, and internet browsing capabilities.

The Diamond Ring

The (RED) ring, entirely composed of diamonds, was an exclusive creation by Ive and Newson for the 2018 RED Charity Auction. This extraordinary ring was meticulously crafted from a single, unbroken block of diamond, produced using cutting-edge plasma reactor technology by Diamond Foundry, a process that facilitates the growth of a stone through scientific means. This innovative technique enabled the diamond to achieve substantial size, allowing for the creation of an intricate ring without the need for any metal bands. Sold for $256,250, this exceptional piece stands as the world's inaugural wearable, all-diamond ring.

The (RED) Desk

The "RED" Desk represents one of the distinctive creations within the collection crafted by Jonathan Ive and Marc Newson for the 2013 (RED) Charity Auction, spearheaded by Bono. This elegant desk is constructed from aluminum and features a surface adorned with 185 interlocking cells. Its design exudes a slender, sophisticated appearance, with blade-like legs and a top meticulously fashioned from solid aluminum components, expertly manufactured by Neal Feay Studio.

US Space Shuttle thermal window

As part of the 2013, Jonathan Ive undertook the design of a truly unique custom stand, for a US Space Shuttle window. This stand was meticulously conceived to showcase the space shuttle window as an independent work of art. Crafted from seamless aluminum, the stand was tailored to accommodate the Corning Code 7980 fused silica glass window, a product of Corning Incorporated, renowned for its rich history of innovation and precision, which supplied windows for the NASA Space Shuttle program.
